Cat6?

Just purchased a test 6″ lead from a cable supplier… Although it was a “sample” it came with plugs moulded on… Sounds good?

Well maybe not. On cutting the plug off (I have my own strain relief and plugs which I prefer) the outer is loose (ok good for flexibility? Maybe) the cable is odly coloured. OK so not the end of the world but…. There’s little to no twist in any of the internal cables and the centre core is an afterthought.

So the moral here is check your supplier! But also even on sealed leads its worth chopping the odd one to ensure quality! Given how short the patch is it might manage Cat6 speeds? But I wouldn’t use the cable even for home use! Lesson learned will look for better supplier!
